This International Youth Day, GCHA’s Youth Climate and Health Network (YCHN), International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) and Young World Federation of Public Health Associations(Young WFPHA), are co-organizing Local Voices, Global Impact: Youth Climate and Health Fest, an online event to celebrate and amplify youth-led climate and health action from communities around the world.
We welcome submissions that showcase youth-led climate and health action, including:
- Community and grassroots initiatives
- School or university activities
- Policy and advocacy efforts for planet and people
- Research and evidence generation
- Multimedia and storytelling projects /communications on climate and health
- Health sector resilience and low-carbon initiatives
And any other initiatives that are working to advance climate and health.
Up to six members will be invited to present at the online Youth Climate and Health Fest – a virtual event to celebrate and showcase youth leadership in climate and health before peers, GCHA members and Philanthropies working in the space. Selected participants may also have further opportunities to showcase and promote their work through GCHA and partner networks, as well as access mentorship opportunities. Projects will be selected for presentation based on their impact, how clearly they demonstrate the link between climate and health, geographic and gender representation, and diversity of initiatives.
Other submissions (ensure they meet the eligibility criteria, align with the objectives of the initiative, and reflect youth-led climate and health action) will be featured in GCHA’s website, and promoted through our social media channels.
This will be an opportunity to bring greater visibility to your work and connect with a global community of youth climate and health advocates.
Your project may address topics including, but not limited to:
- Air pollution and respiratory health
- Extreme heat and climate-related health impacts
- Food systems, nutrition, and water security
- Mental health and community resilience
- Climate-resilient and sustainable healthcare
- Health equity, climate justice, and vulnerable communities
- Please ensure that the link between climate and health is clearly demonstrated for your project to be considered eligible
Eligibility criteria
The submitted project must:
- Be led/co-led by, or actively involve a member of the Youth Climate and Health Network (YCHN)-GCHA, International Federation of Medical Students’ Association(IFMSA), or Young World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), aged 18-35.
- Demonstrate a clear connection between climate change and health.
- Be currently ongoing and demonstrate activities, outputs, or impact. Planned or future projects that have not yet started, as well as projects that have already been completed, are not eligible.
