Collaborating to Drive Progress on Climate Change and Health

On Friday 24th May the Global Climate and Health Alliance and the World Health Organization will launch the WHO Civil Society Working Group to Advance Action on Climate Change and Health.  Aimed at strengthening WHO-NGO collaboration to drive progress on addressing climate change to protect and promote health, the Working Group will be launched alongside the 72nd World Health Assembly at this Side Event, co-hosted with the Alliance for Health Promotion.

The Working Group will foster a strong and sustained health voice, informing decision-making on climate change nationally and internationally, and driving urgent action on climate change. Key goals are greater engagement of health civil society organizations; strategic communications with coordination between health civil society and WHO; and advice to the WHO on areas in which additional WHO evidence-based guidance would help inform health civil society action on climate change and health.
