Global Conference on Climate and Health, Brasília, 29 – 31st July
The World Health Organization (WHO), in partnership with the Government of Brazil and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), is hosting the Global Conference on Climate and Health in Brasília from 29 to 31 July 2025. This event also serves as the in‑person annual meeting of the Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH).
Why does it matter?
- The conference is an official pre-COP30 meeting, coming just a few months before the United Nations COP30 climate conference in Belém, Brazil, which runs from 10 to 21 November 2025.
- It aims to bring health into global climate discussions in a structured way—shaping the draft Belém Health Action Plan, securing national commitments under ATACH, and laying out pathways to embed health into climate policy ahead of COP30.
Expected outcomes?
- To further develop the Belém Health Action Plan, which will guide how health aligns with climate action post‑COP30.
- Encourage national-level pledges under ATACH to support plan implementation.
- Highlight health as a core pillar of climate action and inform climate policy with scientific evidence.
- Produce scientific deliverables to shape health-informed climate responses
For those attending the conference, the GCHA is hosting an Idea Labs session 3, from 14:30-15:00. on July 31st, to launch the Common Position of Latin America and the Caribbean on Climate Change and Health, a flagship report bringing together health professionals, civil society organisations, academics and practitioners around a shared set of solutions for integrating climate and health responses.
