Last year, organizations representing 46 million health professionals and health workers signed the Healthy Climate Prescription letter along with thousands of individual health professionals and workers. The Prescription calls on governments to take the steps needed to address the climate crisis and protect people’s health, in four key areas:
- Phase out fossil fuels (with a just transition)
- Integrate health into national climate commitments, climate policies and climate governance.
- Invest in low carbon, resilient health systems.
- High income countries, deliver financial support to support low and middle income countries to support climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience.
On April 12 GCHA and WHO, along with the WHO-Civil Society Working Group on Climate and Health, will convene letter signatories (virtually) to discuss next steps for a health community that is ready to stand up for a livable planet for our patients and communities. Please join us for this important event. If you haven’t yet signed the Prescription, it’s still open as we continue to build momentum. Sign here, and you’ll receive an event invitation.
