Les organisations internationales de la santé demandent un traité de non-prolifération des combustibles fossiles pour protéger la vie des générations actuelles et futures

Plus de 1000 professionnels de la santé et 200 organisations de santé du monde entier ont appelé aujourd’hui les gouvernements à élaborer et à mettre en œuvre de toute urgence un traité de non-prolifération des combustibles fossiles pour mettre fin à la dépendance mondiale aux combustibles fossiles, afin de protéger la santé des gens partout dans le monde.

As the Bonn Climate Change Conference closed this week, the Global Climate and Health Alliance (GCHA) described as “unconscionable” the failure by governments to progress towards financing for loss and damage – support to deal with the harms experienced by low income countries due to climate change impacts – and called on developed countries to ensure that the issue be put front and centre of COP27 negotiations.

Just three weeks ahead of the UN climate conference (COP26) in Glasgow, UK more than 400 organizations representing at least 45 million nurses, doctors and health professionals worldwide – about three quarters of the global health workforce – have signed an open letter to the 197 government leaders and national delegations ahead of COP26, warning that the climate crisis is the single biggest health threat facing humanity, and calling on world leaders to deliver on climate action.
